Claudia Reig Valera (Valencia, Spain, 1990) has a degree in audiovisual communication from the University of Valencia. Her career as a camera operator, editor and filmmaker has been developed at Barret production company. "Birth in the 21st century" is her third transmedia documentary as a director, after "En la brecha" on gender inequality at work (2018) and "Que tiemble el camino" about people affected by Parkinson's. She has also directed the feature documentary "Trans resistance" - a portrait of transsexuality in the Valencian Country (2019). Her newest work created with Àlex Badia - "Giving birth in the 21st century" - is an interactive webdocumentary on respected childbirth, which was premiered on November 19th 2020. The documentary lets the viewer inside of the delivery room of the state hospital of La Plana (Vila-real, Castellón) and their humanized attention to childbirth. It gives the audience a unique opportunity to learn the stories of five women during their pregnancy and join them in childbirth, before and after the coronavirus crisis.
