Matty Edwards

Matty is a reporter at the Bristol Cable, the UK's first citywide media cooperative.
Founded in 2014, the Bristol Cable is owned by 2,000+ members, who can have a say in how the organisation is run and what we report on. Unlike traditional local media in the UK, the Cable focuses on investigative reporting, community engagement and amplifying underrepresented voices.
Matty became a member of the Bristol Cable back in 2016, before joining the staff team as a journalist in 2018. He has covered drug policy, running an in-depth series on Bristol's drug problems, but also writes about health and education, with a recent investigation into controversial discipline in schools relying heavily on speaking to people from the Bristol Cable membership.
